Oh My Lorde

One thing about me? I am a master at manifestation. Seriously. If I want something badly enough, I start speaking it into existence like it’s already mine.

After a pretty uneventful September, I started missing my college friends — the ones I used to see basically every day. My best friend Emily’s birthday was coming up, and I was worried our schedules wouldn’t line up. I didn’t want to miss celebrating her, but the universe had other plans.

Enter Rose — one of those friends who always seems to have exciting plans happening despite working all the time. She somehow convinced us to go to a weeknight concert in Philly to see Lorde. One small issue: one of the tickets was completely separate from the others. I told everyone not to worry — we were figuring out a solution no matter what.

After finishing my usual Tuesday tasks, I headed to Emily’s apartment. We grabbed dinner from this amazing little spot nearby called "The Goats Beard" in Manayunk. Over dinner, we caught up and had our own little “pre–pre–birthday” celebration. Back at her place, I helped her do her makeup and pick out an outfit — the usual chaos of getting ready together. Naturally, while I was doing Emily's makeup for her, someone set off the fire alarms and the entire building had to evacuate.

But the night was on our side. We still made it to the venue in time to catch the last few songs of the opener and snap a few photos before heading to guest services to test our luck. That’s when the magic really kicked in. Apparently, free ticket upgrades are a thing (thank you, Molly, for the life-changing tip). Not only did we end up with three seats together — they were in a better section than where we started. I’m not saying I manifested it… but I definitely manifested it.

The concert itself? Incredible. Hearing Lorde perform “Supercut” and “Perfect Places” live was everything. She looked so genuinely happy — dancing, laughing, completely lost in the music. There’s something special about seeing an artist who loves performing as much as the audience loves watching.

By the end of the night, I felt that perfect kind of content — the kind that comes from being surrounded by your favorite people, listening to your favorite music, and realizing the universe really does have your back sometimes.

So if you’re still skeptical about manifestation, consider this your sign. Put the good energy out there — you never know what might come back to you. Sometimes, it’s a reminder that even a random Tuesday can turn into a perfect place.
